"A magnificent get together to celebrate work by women creators who have graced the art forms across the world." Adrian Mullen, The Westmorland Gazette
The Festival: Women’s Arts International Festival is a unique showcase, for men as well as women, celebrating, acknowledging and recognising work by women artists from around the world. The very best in theatre, film, literature, dance, music, visual arts, and cross-artform collaborations will be on offer every May in an exciting, ground-breaking, international event.
The aim of the festival is to promote accessibility of women’s work for all ages, backgrounds and for both sexes and to highlight the creative talents of female artists. The festival includes Q&A sessions, artists in residency, workshops, debates, discussions and opportunities for collaborations and networking. Artists appearing are those who are producing work of the highest artistic quality and/or significance, with as many premieres and unique events as possible.
The 2007 Festival was programmed by the Brewery Arts Centre’s artistic team guided by an invited steering group of leading women from around the UK, as well as guest programmers including Birds Eye View Film Festival, Bonnie and Clyde, Pascale Moyse and Pidgin Productions.
Following the huge success of the inaugural festival, we will be back in May 2009.
