Stripped and Teased: Scandalous Stories with Subversive Subplots
Kimberly Dark’s 'Stripped and Teased' is a wild romp through the issues of gender(in)equity and of (un)fettered sexuality, body image and the social construction of gender, and the economics of being female. Using women who work as strippers as a unifying theme throughout the show, 'Dark brilliantly illuminates how stereotypical views of femininity are not just ridiculous, but ultimately harmful to us all.' So says the Hawaii Island Journal's review of the performance.
Kimberly Dark's show has been touring in North America through 2006 and this festival performance marks its debut in the UK! This interactive spoken word theatre performance includes stories about lesbians, strippers, waitresses, body image, sex and the places where they all interact. 'Stripped and Teased' was judged by Curve magazine as one of the top ten lesbian theatre productions in America in 2006. Come find out why!
